Construction:
It was built in the mid-19th century by Henry Burnett (1845-1927), the first British consul in Maldonado and a pioneer of the area, who planted nearly one million maritime pines to form a coastal barrier and stabilize the shifting dunes between Punta Ballena, Maldonado, Punta del Este, and La Barra.
